Ooooh, did you notice that it's Friday the 13th? Though to be honest, that means next to nothing to me. I think I've seen two horror films in my entire life, unless I count The Creature of the Black Lagoon. Trilogy. Yes. Trilogy. My lovely husband requested those for a Christmas present one year. And got them. Trilogy. Very very campy. But he loves them. (and seriously, not very horror-filmy either.)
Anyway, I despise horror films. Mostly because I have enough imagination to have nightmares on my own, thankyouverymuch, and adding fodder to the stuff of my nightmares is not a good idea.

We're in the depths of our school's speech and debate tournament. I made cupcakes last night for the hospitality room. I have to take them in a bit, because Mac and I realized that him taking AND leaving cupcakes in the locker room was too much temptation to other wandering students.

Valentines Day is tomorrow. I plan to spend most of the day away from K. Because I have to judge at the tournament. We already had our February date anyway. We celebrate around Groundhog's Day. Because - well, because that's the day he gave me my engagement ring. Poor guy couldn't wait 12 more days...
It's a fun tradition anyway!

I sent Valentines with R to school. He will be on a sugar high this afternoon. Because nothing says "valentines love" like lots and lots of candy.

My daughter is going to her first school dance this evening. She is going with a group of her girlfriends, who are also not allowed to date yet. But she can go and talk and dance. It's well chaperoned, and it's early in the evening. I'm still feeling a bit apprehensive.
We went shopping for a new spring/dance dress. She is still difficult to fit, being barely into junior sizes, and definitely out of the girls' department. But we found a few that would fit. One was strapless. I said "absolutely NOT yet." But she looked lovely in it. Thankfully she preferred the one we purchased for her. It will be used at three occasions for sure this year.

One of those is the annual youth Valentine's dinner at church. The junior high and senior high youth have to dress up, go eat with proper etiquette, and then they have a thing where everyone has to say nice things about each other. At least that's how I've heard it is. It will be next week. This week at Wednesday night youth group, the junior high girls practiced etiquette with china and crystal and everything. I think that's actually a good skill to learn!

K woke me up in the middle of the night. He didn't mean to wake me up. But he was LAUGHING. While asleep. I woke him up to stop him. And he told me that it was the funniest dream. And promptly fell back asleep - and started laughing again. I woke him up a second time because I was TIRED and wanted to SLEEP. I managed to fall asleep again and I don't know if he kept dreaming about the skunks in our living room. How is that funny, I ask you? Except when he told me about it this morning, I laughed. It was kind of funny when he told it.

For more Quick Takes Friday, see Conversion Diary. I have to put a plug in for her "Top Housewives" concept, especially the elimination challenge. Especially the part about the scorpions.
