I'm supposed to be packing right now, so this will be a very quick Seven Quick Takes. Mac and I are leaving in 90 minutes to go to South Louisiana for a tourney. I'll be gone for two days.

Make that Very Very quick takes. I have 6 minutes until I'm supposed to wake up Mac for him to take a shower and pack. Yes, he's not packed either. But it's okay. It's not hard to pack for tourney. Suit? Shirts? Ties? Socks? Nice Shoes? Belt? IE scripts? Okay, you'll be fine.

I'm nervous about driving there. I've never gone alone. Mac was going to help drive but we're giving another student a ride. They're the only two students going to this tourney. Next year, we'll make sure he gets to at least three tourneys in the fall, or we'll be having to do this again.

Something other than tourney/packing/driving. R came up to me the other day and asked to go to bed. Seriously. Okay, he didn't say "Mami, may I go to bed?" But he did come up to where I was typing on the computer and patted my arm to get my attention. When I turned and looked at him, he looked at me and said "Night-night". Oh, sweet baby, of course!!! We got him ready for bed and he got into bed and promptly fell asleep.

We had R's new IEP yesterday. I am loving that there are REAL cognitive goals on there. He's going to learn to trace his name. And other things. All scattered amongst all the other goals that basically boil down to "teach him to communicate and interact with other human beings". IEPs get me a bit down, but this one wasn't so hard. Instead of making me feel like - oh, my baby can't do anything - it made me feel like - oh, my. LOOK HOW FAR HE HAS COME THIS YEAR!!!!!

We even discussed having him visit a regular classroom! You have to understand that he's in a self-contained special needs room. And the IEP team has never considered any form of inclusion of him. We all decided that it's too soon, but to even discuss it is great.

I've got two books, and I'm going to enjoy my time away from home. No dishes, no laundry, no diapers. I adore all three kids and I love my husband. And this isn't quite the break I'd really like to have, but I'm thinking it will be nice. And I'll really love seeing them all late tomorrow night. I am especially going to miss R - but oh boy, it will be sweet to come home again.
