I'm out of practice with blogging. I have been feeling very quiet. Some of it is a good quiet - a time of reflection. Some of it is not so good, as in I should be talking, but I'm keeping to myself too much. Maybe this will help bring me back out of my shell.

Blogging. Why blog? Yes, it's the great self-discussion about blogging. I sometimes wonder why I keep writing. But it is fun, helpful most of the time for myself, and maybe it's even helpful for others occasionally. And I do love being able to look back and see when things happened. For example, I needed to remember exactly when we took R to Little Rock for his evaluation. I could have dug through the medical receipts, but instead, I looked here first, and voila - I know the date. And could easily find the receipts I needed. I guess that's a good reason to keep blogging, at least for a while.

Spring break starts tonight. We're not going to go anywhere. Not going to plan anything. We decided to have R stay home too and not go to therapy for the week either, so it will be a true mini-vacation for all of us. I know I plan to SLEEP more. Except I have to take various children to various appointments.

The most important appointment is for Nina to get her eyes checked. She didn't pass the vision screen at school, so she might need glasses. The budget said - whoa. Okay. Ouch.

The budget said Ouch again yesterday when I took R to the dentist for his cleaning/check. He did a LOT better this time. He did fine last time, but this time he was able to tolerate the hygienist wearing a mask, and he was also able to tolerate wearing the bib thing. He still needs me to sit next to him on the chair though. He also tolerated having his teeth rinsed, but we didn't try the suction thing yet!
The reason the budget said ouch is that the little almost cavity is now a cavity, and needs to be filled. And there is another one forming on the tooth above the one that has to be filled now. All of my children have deep grooves on their molars - like me - and it's been a struggle to keep them cavity free. Mac had one when he was 7, and Nina was more fortunate and never had any.
Anyway, we have an appointment with a pediatric dentist for a consult, and we'll see what options are available. R's sensory stuff means that we don't think he can tolerate having a shot, let alone hearing the drill. Oral sedation is an option, and hopefully will work, but I am not very optimistic, considering what happened the last time we tried oral sedation. He couldn't fall asleep... until after we'd left the appointment that we were trying to get him to sleep for...

Mac and I have been playing Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii for a while now. We won the first part of the game a long time ago and have been slowly making progress on purple coin challenges. We are so excited - we only have one purple coin challenge to go before... something happens. We have no idea what will happen, but it's still fun to be at this point. It's probably more fun to be anticipating it, than to be there. We figure with spring break starting (tonight! yeah! Oh, I already mentioned that? well, it's super great!), we'll have time to win that challenge at least.
It's fun to have this to share together.

Meanwhile, I need to get some exercise in, and I am enjoying Wii Fit, though I have not done as much of it as I had hoped. But every little bit helps. I walk with R occasionally - he loves to walk around the block with me, and it's cute to watch him "tightrope" walking on the curb. He needs as much exercise as we can manage to work into his day too, as he doesn't run easily and other gross motor movements appear to be awkward as well. But as he practices things, he keeps improving. K took him to the track with Nina, and Nina ran laps while R rode his tricycle. K said that R was making really good time too, with a smooth flat surface to race on!
