Rain rain go away... and don't come back for a while! Every day it rains. Not like in Georgia, but still constant grey skies and showers and storms on and on and on and on. I admit to liking the sound of rain in the middle of the night, as I wake and drift back to sleep, listening to the drops hit the roof. But I need some sun soon, please!

Even R has given up on swimming with all this rain. He wants to go soooo bad. I need to look into a pass at the university pool this winter. Even if we just go a few times, he would love it!

Mac is on a bus trip by now, on his way to south Louisiana. The high school has a football game way down there, and the band went of course. Me, I'm not going. It's going to be rough enough getting up at sometime between 2 and 4 a.m. when they get back...

K would go pick him up, but there is a Scout campout this weekend. I'll take Mac out there tomorrow morning - or K will come pick him up. We'll figure that out later.

My sister had surgery on her foot this week. She had broken it quite well, or should I say badly? In fact, they found that she had broken one bone in half completely, and crushed another bone.
She will have to have a second surgery in about 6 weeks. I am as usual wishing that I lived closer. But I don't, so I adjust to my reality - and work on a care package to send her. Hopefully I'll get it in the mail next week when she's feeling better.
Meanwhile, pray that it will heal quickly and that it will heal well, okay?

Jamie expressed surprise that I had purchased a Christmas present already. I felt so awesome. Until I remembered that I have two friends who manage to buy or make ALL their presents by October.
Seriously, mom is easy to buy for. I have a list and when I see things I know that she'll like, I buy them. I usually have 2 or 3 gifts ready to go for her - for Christmas, birthday, Mother's Day, whatever. Purchases like this are in the budget. I try to do this for others in my family as well, but they are harder to buy for, so I usually end up waiting for closer to the event.

Speaking of gifts, I have failed completely at birthday shopping this year. I have three belated birthday cards and gift cards to send right now because I missed three of the niece/nephew birthdays. It's not that I didn't remember them, but that I just never managed to get my act together enough to find them presents. I should just go straight to gift cards next year. It's much easier, and with preteen/teens, more practical as well.
But I don't like sending gift cards all that much! I loved when they were smaller and I could buy such fun gifts, ideal for their age and interests. Now, it's just too hard, and everything that they really want is so expensive. My kids get gift cards a lot too, and they tend to spend them at once on things they have saved up for, and they are happy too. So it's okay. At least I'm actually sending something!
