The morning rush out the door has been changed slightly this morning. I'm usually up early making breakfast and lunch bags for R, and getting ready in case I get a subbing call. This morning, I slept in a bit, because R is sick with diarrhea and won't be going to school. He's still sleeping.

When I called his teacher to tell him why R wouldn't be there, I started laughing. Because we changed his pull-up SIX times in 2 hours yesterday, there is a forecast of "ice pellets" for this evening, and we only have two full packs of pull-ups... and I'm worried that we'll run out before tomorrow. Sometimes you have to laugh or you'll cry.

I'm hoping that's the only symptom and that nobody else gets it, because I'm tired of sickness here. Enough said on that.

I feel like I need to clarify something about last week's quick take. If you're stopping by for the first time, I talk about autism a lot on this blog. The school diagnosis took weeks, paperwork, and a lot of stuff that irritated me, because R has had an official medical diagnosis of autism for 2 years. But the school diagnosis is separate and has different criteria from the medical diagnosis. I was relieved to get it, because I've heard stories from other parents about not getting one, in spite of the medical diagnosis. I can't figure this one out either - why any discrepancy? I mean - we have reports from three different professionals, plus the pediatrician. Why wouldn't that be enough?
Anyway, it's not something new, just a new school dx. It doesn't change anything at this point in how we're teaching R, or what therapy, or anything. Except we are getting more OT services finally - at least we hope so. Still haven't received our complete IEP yet... because the OT objectives haven't been added yet. Sigh.

Am I the only one inundated by Amazon ads whenever I make a purchase? Because you're shown an interest in X, we'd like to recommend Y to you? I keep thinking about unsubscribing to their email stuff.

Recent purchases are very eclectic due to Christmas. They take all your purchases and then recommend things to buy. It's kind of like that name site where you can input a few names you like and it gives you some recommendations - http://www.nymbler.com/ is the site.
Anyway, Amazon has yet to make a single hit with me with their recommendations, let alone inspire me to purchase anything. But it's been entertaining to see what they choose, so I guess I'll keep getting the e-mails. It only takes me a second to delete them.
Although I am at a loss as to why I'd want a Kindle cover (one of the recommendations), when I have never purchased a Kindle. I guess they pull from what you've looked at as well, because I did look at a Kindle. Once. And quickly looked away once I saw the price!

I got to see a newborn baby on Wednesday. Only 12 days old, and mom brought him with her to bible study. You forget so quickly how tiny they are. And sweet. And the newborn baby smell? priceless. But the funny thing was that I was thinking - how sweet it will be to have grandchildren someday. Which was a nice feeling instead of wishing for another baby - because I don't think I do wish for another baby anymore. (disclaimer: I would accept another baby, enjoy it, love it, etc - because it would be mine. But I am getting old enough to move on from that stage, I hope!)
Not too soon though. Mac is only 16, and Nina is only 13... but I was married at 22... so I guess it might not be as far away as I think. Whoa. Where is the time going?
And on that note, I'll show you the home of Quick Take Friday if you'd like to see other Quick Takes!
Prayers your family gets well & stays well. Five out of 8 of us have colds right now...
